If at first you don't succeed...

Well, since Nova might be going bankrupt and they are causing their employees to be evicted from their apartments, I am no longer going to be going to Japan with Nova. I don't feel confident in them anymore.

So, I will be applying to AEON, which is another company that teaches English is Japan. I will post updates as they happen. I hope to be posting something soon! Everyone cross your fingers for me!!

Aggravating Circumstances

Well, it looks like things have changed AGAIN! I received a call from Nova on Friday and people in Japan will not be paid on time again. They were supposed to be paid on the 15th, but they won't be paid until the 19th. Nova also notified me that they found out that they have no housing available in the month of November. Now it looks like I won't be leaving until after the New Year.

I am going to do some research on the other companies that are out there and see what that brings me. Nova is not the only company that I can teach through. I told Nova that I will think about what I want to do and that I will get back to them on Monday.

I can't believe this is happening, but maybe there is a reason and it is for the best. Maybe I wasn't meant to go to Japan right now and maybe I wasn't supposed to go with Nova. I'll just keep looking on the bright side and take one day at a time! This will all work out!

A change in plans...

Ok, so I am no longer leaving October 30th. It looks like I will be leaving sometime in November, but I do not have a set date as of yet.

I guess there has been a problem going on in Japan. For some unknown reason, current instructors have not been getting paid on time. There have been delays all across the country and no one knows why.

As a result, Nova is not comfortable with sending any new instructors over there at this time, so no one will be going n the month of October.

They hope to figure out what the problem is and resolve it quickly so they can start sending people again. This is why I don't have a set date. I will HOPEFULLY be leaving in November, but as a result I have more time to spend with everyone here! :)

Nova currently has departures previously set up for Nov. 6th and 13th, so hopefully I will be leaving on one of those days.

Well, even though I never expected this, it just figures.

Plane ticket

Ok, so I "reserved" my ticket to fly into Japan, but they won't charge my card until 7-14 days before I leave and I won't get it til 1 week before I go. I think I am getting tired of all this last minute stuff.

I will receive my Certificate of Eligibility, or COE, about 3 weeks before departure, which I will take to the Japanese Consulate in Chicago to convert the COE into my work visa that will be stamped in my passport.

I have applied for my Hanko, which is a wooden stamp that I will use in place of my signature. It will either have my first or last name in Japanese, but I won't get that until I arrive in Japan. :( I will have to take a pic of it so everyone can see it!

Well, that is the latest on what's going on before I leave for the land of the rising sun! Ja Mata!

Departure Date!

Yes! I finally have my departure date! I will be leaving the United States on Tuesday, October 30th and arriving in Osaka, Japan on Wednesday, October 31st!

Osaka is not necessarily where I will be living. I will learn that location 2 weeks before I fly, so around Oct. 15th, which will also be my last day at my current job! Woohoo!

Japan in 2 months!

Ja matta!

The start of something new

I have decided that since there are not a lot of people who are not fond of MySpace, I am starting a blog and I plan to keep up with it while I am in Japan. This will be my way of keeping everyone up to date with me and my everyday happenings.

As of right now, I have all my papers in with Nova Group(that's the company I will be working for in Japan). I am waiting to hear about my departure date, which should still be in October.

I don't feel that any of this is real yet. I imagine that it will once I do get a date. Right now I am simply trying to get my thoughts in order and learn as much Japanese as I can. :)

Well, I will give everyone an update once I do find out the date and what I am doing to prepare!

Ja Matta! (See you later!)
